What do students learn?


DAY 1- Introduction to Google CS First

  • Introduction to Scratch programming and technology
  • In the process of creating interactive stories, games, and animations with Scratch, young people can learn important computational skills and concepts.
  • They can learn problem-solving and project-design skills, such as reasoning logically, debugging problems, developing ideas from initial conception to completed project, and sustaining focus.
  • They can also learn specific programming concepts, such as sequences, iteration, conditionals, variables, and data structures.

DAY 2 – Game design on Scratch

  • Introduction Google Computer Science First programme, scope and procedures of the club, then create a gaming story in Scratch.
  • Racing Game – Students create a two-player racing game in which players control movement with the keyboard.
  • Maze Game – In this short activity – students learn to code a game in which the player guides a sprite through a maze.
  • Platform Game – Students create and learn about platform games. Club members program a player sprite to move and jump across platforms when the arrow keys are pressed. In order to win, the player sprite must make it across all the platforms and touch another sprite.
  • Kahoot Challenege on Scratch – Students compete with their peers to be named the Kahoot King or Queen.
